Bicycle History

Bicycles were first made as early as 1790, although they were simply bikes with no brakes, and instead had a wooden peg on the rear wheel to help balance. Bikes soon became popular among people for both recreation and transport. Due to bikes being able to go anywhere that riders wanted them to, bikes soon spread all around the world .

Soon bikes had become increasingly popular over the years, to the point where they became essential among school children for their daily commute to school and back home again. Bikes soon became so popular that bikes could be seen around almost any town or city in the world at almost any time of day.

In the early 1910s bikes were still a very popular transport method, with bikes even being used in war time as a quicker and more efficient way to get soldiers from one location to another. Bikes soon became the main form of transport for civilians, but this popularity did not last long .

By 1930 bikes were now more commonly used by younger children for fun, rather than having bikes as a serious form of transport .

However, bikes were still without brakes until 1890 when Americans Frank and Charles Merrill developed the world's first bikes with brakes, which were soon seen all across America and Europe .

Bikes continued to become popular throughout the twentieth century and bikes could be found almost everywhere people went during this time, until vehicles such as cars became more affordable and bikes started falling out of use among many civilians .

In the recent years bikes have undergone many significant changes to make bikes more reliable and efficient, such as disc brakes which cut down stopping time by around 50% . Another example is that bikes now come with different gears to allow riders to change between different levels of resistance (which allows bikes to maintain a certain speed over different types of terrain).

Today bikes are still used in many parts of the world for both recreation and transport. In fact, they're popular even in developing countries because they help people get around quickly and easily! If you like to travel, bikes are a great mode of transportation. They're cheap and easy to use!

Despite all of these changes, there is now a new innovation that makes biking safer and more practical for riders. This is the first ever motorised bike which allows the rider to change between being propelled by human power or electricity . This means that cyclists are given extra assistance when they are cycling uphill or have reached their destination. Implementing electric motors on bikes have allowed for many other new features to be added. For example, the electric motor can act as a brake while cycling downhill or it can be used to slow down when the rider is coming to a stop at an intersection. This feature would reduce instances where cyclists are being crushed by cars due to lack of brakes on bikes .
